Filth accompanies the tragedies and escapades of mortals and gods - He stumbles through the dregs of resentment and envy to do that which is absolutely necessary. Humility is part of his nature, but not one he choses - merely a necessity of survival. Perhaps one day during this eternity, all his good works will be rewarded. He grows dubious as the years pile endlessly onto the past. Regardless, his job defines him - and is neither antagonistic nor sympathetic to his wishes.

These works are part of my series of mostly large-scale paintings called “Psychopomps, gods and arcana”. These are a series of acrylic paintings depicting neo-pagan gods that are concocted from personal, unconscious symbolism. To access this subconscious well, I incorporate chance-based techniques into the design, such as automatic drawing and a randomized system of coloration, determined with dice rolls.

The original artwork is acrylic on canvas.
